Welcome to Selibera

October 2026 · 4 minute read

Most of us know at least one habit we'd like to change. Scrolling late into the night. Snacking when we're not hungry. Putting things off until the last minute. Or the healthy habit we keep meaning to start: moving more, saving, reading, going to bed earlier.

And most of us have tried to change it with willpower, a strict plan and a streak counter. It works for a few days. Then life gets busy, we slip, the streak breaks, and we decide we've failed. Again.

Selibera is built on a different idea.

Your habit is meeting a need

Habits don't appear for no reason. Even the ones we don't like are doing something for us. The late-night scroll might be the only time that feels like your own. The afternoon snack might be a break from a hard day. Putting things off might be protecting you from the worry of not doing it well.

When you only fight a habit, that need is still there, so the habit keeps coming back. When you understand what it gives you, you can find a kinder way to meet the same need. That's when change starts to last.

So it isn't a willpower problem. You're not lazy or broken. You're human, and your habit makes sense.

What Selibera means

Selibera means self-liberation: “self” and “libera”, the Latin for free. Our motto is simple: know yourself, free yourself. Change comes from understanding, not from shame.

How it works

Most people need about 66 days for a new habit to feel natural. Some need less, some need more, and that's fine. You can take as long as you need. You can read more about where that number comes from in our post on the 66 days.

Who it's for

Selibera is for adults who want to change one habit gently and for their own reasons. It's habit coaching, not therapy, and it doesn't diagnose or treat any condition. If you need more support, we'll point you to professionals and helplines.

What's coming

On Friday 1 January 2027, we're starting our first cohort: a group of people beginning their 66 days together, with a free private community. In early 2027 we'll also open a directory of registered therapists who understand habits, starting in Singapore.

And here on the blog, we'll share practical, kind writing on habits: why they form, what they do for us, and how to change them without shame.

Ready to understand your habit? The free quiz takes about 5 minutes and shows what your habit does for you, what gets in your way, and your 66-day plan.
